Navigating a path forward in the Legal Industry

Our distinguished panel met on Thursday June 4th at 10a Pacific (1p eastern) for a robust discussion of the legal industry’s outlook. These four industry experts shared their thoughts and insights about the results of an industry wide survey conducted by Legal Decoder to elicit information that will help the legal industry recover as fast as possible once the dust begins to settle.

Hundreds of experienced professionals from all sectors of the legal industry participated in the survey and shared their views on the most important concerns of legal industry constituents; short-term and longer-term forecasts for the legal industry; increases/decreases in volume of work by practice area; and strategic priorities for legal industry organizations.

Professor Nancy Rapoport, Catherine Krow, Stephanie Corey and Joe Tiano highlighted how the survey can inform decision-making and facilitate transparency throughout the entire legal industry.  Armed with the empirical data of the survey, these diverse experts provided insights that afforded attendees meaningful perspective and instructive ideas as we all navigate a path forward for our businesses and our law firms.

Much like the Legal Decoder survey, this Webinar was geared towards all legal constituents whether at law firms, in-house legal departments, legal industry vendors, academics, law students and regulators and judges alike.

CLE is available through the University of Nevada Las Vegas

Our survey is now closed.

We want to thank the 200+ participants that helped make a difference.

Like you, our team at Legal Decoder is beyond devastated witnessing the human tragedy of lives threatened and lives lost as the COVID-19 pandemic rages on.  A sincere “thank you” to those on front line who are saving lives while putting their own in peril.

As if a dreadful health crisis wasn’t enough, the financial turmoil affecting every industry has prompted our team at Legal Decoder to figure out how we can do our small part to somehow help the legal industry, particularly those who’ve seen their livelihood threatened or crushed. We can’t establish a $100 million legal professional relief fund for displaced legal industry personnel and what we can offer is trivial to what those on the healthcare front lines are doing.

Our modest contribution revolves around what we do in our core business: generate valuable legal industry data that promotes informed decision-making and transparency. So, we’re launching an industry wide survey designed to elicit information that will help the legal industry recover as fast as possible once the dust begins to settle.

Legal Decoder will bear the cost of conducting the survey, analyzing survey results and preparing and circulating a report for the industry.  The report will be free to everyone.

We’re hopeful that the report will help clarify the near-term and long-term landscape in the legal industry and augment professional decision-making by:

  • your niece whose summer associate offer just got revoked by a law firm.

  • your wife, a general counsel whose budget just got slashed in half.

  • your husband who is the managing partner of a law firm just had to reduce headcount by 30%.

  • a judge, who is figuring out how to fairly administer justice in unprecedented times.

  • your son who just had his associate compensation reduced by 30%.

  • your former office manager, former partner, protégé or secretary who now needs a new job.

  • YOU because you’re a legal professional or paraprofessional who has been displaced as a result of COVID-19.

A survey report only has value if enough people take the survey. For the people above, please consider taking 10 minutes out of your day to take the survey.

Your Response Mattered.
